![]() Wear the Tap Strap, and you could tap out commands on your leg. Anyone who has tried typing on the Gear VR - where you must look at each individual character on the screen - will know how laborious the process can be. The Tap Strap connects using Bluetooth and therefore should operate with almost any mobile device, but the real advantage here could be for use with VR headsets. Tap Systems sees the Tap Strap as an alternative to voice control, emphasizing the privacy aspect of using gestures to type messages as one of its major benefits. The right-hand pinky is a real workhorse, covering everything to the right of its home column.Tapping with each finger will see a character or number appear on the screen, and it’s possible to punctuate and insert special characters using different gestures. The left-hand pinky is also responsible for all the keys to the left of its home column, including the left shift key, caps lock, tab, tilde, escape and others. The thumbs are used for the space bar, and depending on the shape of your keyboard can also be used for the "command" (Apple computers) or "Windows" (PCs) key. Both index fingers are responsible for an additional column, the one next to their home columns towards the middle of the keyboard. The column is not straight up and down, but rather slopes up to the left. Each finger is responsible for a vertical column of keys, which you can think of as a "home column".The thumbs remain in the air, or very gently in contact with the keys below. The home keys (ASDF JKL ) are outlined in yellow on the above diagram. Each finger rests on a particular key in the home row of the keyboard when not typing, in order to keep "grounded" and oriented at all times. If you're still having problems, you can still access the old, Flash-based version of the course here.
